چکیده

Abstract Reliable monitoring of one’s response to exercise intensity is imperative effectively plan and manage training, but not always practical in impact sports settings. This study aimed evaluate if an inexpensive mobile cardio-respiratory system can achieve similar performance a metabolic cart estimating rated perceived exertion. Eight adult men volunteered perform treadmill tests under different conditions. Cardiorespiratory data were collected using instrumented oral-cavity device, as well their ratings Pearson correlation corrected for repeated measurements stepwise regression analysis used observe the relationship between cardiorespiratory features exertion determine proportion variance that could be explained by measurements. Minute ventilation was found most associated variable exertion, closely followed novel metric called audio minute volume, which device. A generalised linear model combining ventilation, heart rate respiration accounted 64% whilst with only volume 56%. Our indicates key during indoor running exercises. Audio also observed comparably lab-based research techniques offer potential real-world collection athlete’s physiological load estimation

A Smart Walking Navigation System based on Perceived Exertion

In recent years, the growing trend of personal well-being has led an increasing number of people to engage in walking related activities to improve their physical health. As such, it is becoming increasingly important to develop walking navigation systems which are able to effectively support such activities. The conventional walking navigation systems found in modern smart phone devices usuall...

Introducing a method for extracting features from facial images based on applying transformations to features obtained from convolutional neural networks

In pattern recognition, features are denoting some measurable characteristics of an observed phenomenon and feature extraction is the procedure of measuring these characteristics. A set of features can be expressed by a feature vector which is used as the input data of a system. An efficient feature extraction method can improve the performance of a machine learning system such as face recognit...

Applying an Attentional Set to Perceived and Remembered Features

Previous research has examined our ability to attend selectively to particular features of perceptual objects, as well as our ability to switch from attending to one type of feature to another. This is usually done in the context of anticipatory attentional-set control, comparing the neural mechanisms involved as participants prepare to attend to the same stimulus feature as on the previous tri...

On Perceived Exertion and its Measurement

ii 3 To my father iii 4 iv 5 Abstract The general aim of the thesis is to answer questions on general and differential aspects of perceived exertion and on the measurement of its intensity variation. Overall perceived exertion is commonly treated as a unidemensional construct. This thesis also explores its multidimensional character. Four empirical studies are summarized (Study I-IV). Psychophy...

A unique method for predicting cardiorespiratory fitness using rating of perceived exertion.

The purpose of this study was to develop a simple and convenient indirect method for estimating maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max) and oxygen uptake at the anaerobic threshold (VO2AT) by using workrate and a rating of perceived exertion (RPE) during a submaximal graded cycling test (GCTsubmax). One hundred and fifty-four healthy Japanese men, aged 20 to 64 years, volunteered to participate in the s...
